If you have lived in Arlington for more than a couple of summers, you probably plan your August around one weekend: the airshow. That is changing this year, and the shift is worth understanding before you build your calendar.
The board of the Arlington Fly-In has authorized a dissolution committee to close the organization in 2026, with a final celebration of the Arlington Fly-In and SkyFest planned before assets are donated to other Snohomish County nonprofits.
Read that carefully. SkyFest is still happening this summer, and the city is treating it as a send-off. But the through-line of Arlington summers, the event that grew into the third-largest aviation event in the country before being scaled back and rebranded, is winding down. What has been quietly replacing it is not another single blockbuster. It is a weekly rhythm of smaller, downtown-anchored events that add up to more Saturdays worth walking out the door for, not fewer.
Here is how that plays out from now through Labor Day.
The Weekly Beat: Two Free Concert Series You Can Actually Walk To
The backbone of Arlington's summer is now two overlapping concert series under the Meet Me in Arlington banner, both free, both weekly, and both easy to work around dinner.
Saturdays run at the Farmers Market at 114 N Olympic Avenue with Tunes at Noon. Friday evenings shift north to 17903 Smokey Point Blvd for 6 p.m. shows sponsored by the City of Arlington Hotel-Motel Tax Fund. If you want the short version, here is the run:

A note on the schedule: the International Festival at Smokey Point Park on June 6 and the June 6 Music at Legion Park show were cancelled, so if you saw either on an older printout, cross them off. The Saturday market series is the more reliable of the two, because it stacks on top of the produce and vendor draw that is already happening.
The Big Saturdays Worth Blocking Off
Between the weekly shows, four dates carry the weight of a real event day. If you only clear four Saturdays this summer, clear these.
July 4, the Great Stilly Duck Dash and Grand Parade. The Arlington Runners Club Freedom 5k Color Run kicks the day off at Haller Park at 10 a.m., the Grand 4th of July Parade rolls at 114 N Olympic Avenue starting at 5 p.m., the Rotary Duck Dash launches at Haller Bridge Park at 7 p.m., and the Boys and Girls Club hosts the fireworks display at 10 p.m. This is the day the Stillaguamish does the work of a stadium.
July 10, the Downtown Arlington Street Fair. DABA has run this event long enough that the format is dialed in. Expect over 200 vendors across three days of unique shops, food, kids' activities, and live entertainment, with shuttle service running from Haller Middle School and Presidents Elementary to designated stops along Olympic Ave. Park at the schools, not downtown.
August SkyFest, the last of its kind. The event still features what the promoter describes as a drive-in airshow, balloon night glow, and drone show at Arlington Airport, 4700 188th Street NE, with military vehicle displays, a car show, and hot air balloons drawing roughly 15,000 attendees across the weekend. If you have been skipping it because you assumed you had five more years to catch it, this is the year to go. Tickets have historically run $20 to $80, which is worth mentioning because the free events make it easy to forget SkyFest is a ticketed weekend.
August 22, Art in Legion Park. A quieter counterweight to the airshow crowd, running from 10 a.m. onward at Legion Memorial Park.
When Headliners Come To Town
Rivers Run Event Center at Angel of the Winds is the piece most residents underestimate. Two names on the summer calendar would draw a Seattle-side crowd if they were booked at a bigger venue:
- Collective Soul at Rivers Run Event Center on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 8:00 p.m.
- Scotty McCreery at Rivers Run Event Center on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 7:30 p.m.
If you have not been to Rivers Run since it opened, it plays smaller than the ticket prices suggest, which is the actual reason to go. Both of these shows overlap with concert-series Saturdays downtown, so pace yourself.
For a different flavor entirely, Mirkwood Public House has a Moon Daddy Reunion show with Minimum Wage Band and special guests on Friday, July 31, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. Mirkwood remains the most Arlington-specific venue in town, and the room rewards showing up early.
What A Regular Saturday Actually Looks Like Between Events
A large share of Arlington summer is not events at all. It is the two-hour window between farmers-market coffee and whatever the evening plan is. That window is what makes downtown Olympic Avenue matter more than any single festival.
A short list of the places that make the walk work, all within a few blocks of each other:
- Bluebird Cafe, 308 N Olympic Avenue, for a sit-down breakfast before the market opens.
- Moe's on Olympic, 434 N Olympic Avenue, and the sister Moe's Espresso Stand at 117 W Division for a faster caffeine plan.
- Bonaventure Coffee Roasters, an Arlington roaster if you would rather buy beans and skip the line.
- Arlington Hardware at 215 N Olympic, which reads as a hardware store and functions as a downtown anchor. Bring the list you keep forgetting.
- Arlington Velo Sport at 401 N Olympic for anyone using the Centennial Trail as their actual summer plan.
The Centennial Trail deserves its own line here. It is the piece of infrastructure that makes it plausible to do a market run, a concert, and a ride from a single downtown parking spot. If you have been driving between them, you are working harder than you need to.
One Practical Note About Timing
The Arlington City Council spent part of last fall arguing over lodging tax allocations, and the outcome matters for anyone who cares whether the small events grow next year. Eighteen applicants competed for $175,000 in 2024, and this year there were 17 applicants and $185,000 available, with the committee recommending that money be redistributed toward the Farmers Market, the Fourth of July event, the Street Fair, and Gleneagle Golf Course's Summerdaze 2026. Translation: the weekly small-event calendar you are looking at is not accidental. It is the direction city funding is actively pointed. Show up to the ones you like. That is how they keep getting funded.
The Short Version
Arlington's summer used to be built around one weekend. It is now built around fourteen. Between Tunes at Noon on Saturdays, Friday shows at Smokey Point, the July 4 sequence, the Street Fair, Rivers Run headliners, and the final SkyFest, there is a plausible plan for almost every weekend from now through the second week of September without leaving city limits.
If you are the neighbor who always ends up hosting out-of-town guests in July or August, this is your year to look organized. Put the Street Fair on the calendar, grab tickets for whichever Rivers Run show fits, and let the concert series handle the in-between Saturdays.
